TITLE:Mentorship Toolkit on Grant Writing
SUMMARY:Mentorship Toolkit on Grant Writing
DESCRIPTION:Grantsmanship is a valuable skill that requires purposeful development and practice. Pharmacy trainees are not routinely exposed to or trained in grantsmanship, though it’s an essential component of training for PhD candidates. Most faculty are inexperienced in grant writing, which can limit career trajectory and inhibit scholarly endeavors. Finding and subsequently connecting with an experienced mentor can be difficult, as can developing a grant from scratch.
This digital event will provide an overview of grantsmanship and the value of having experienced mentor support through the program. The grant mentoring toolkit provides structure and support to foster a mentor/mentee relationship as they navigate the development and submission of a grant, such as the AcPS grant. Tangible toolkit content facilitates aspects of the relationship, including communication, documentation, mentoring, as well as best practices for successful outcomes with the relationship
The digital event will review the components of the grant mentoring toolkit, then highlight the AcPS grant offering. It will begin with a brief overview of grantsmanship and the modified approach to grant writing and submission compared to other scholarly endeavours. Speakers will review the individual components of the grantsmanship mentoring toolkit, providing the rationale for each item and guidance on implementing and using each component. It will be of significant benefit to members in lower- and middle-income countries who are eligible to pursue the AcPS grant, which will be discussed in greater detail
