Background:
Since 2016, Portugal has launched several pilot projects on proximity dispensing. However, legal framework for the proximity dispensing of medicines prescribed for hospital outpatient care within the National Health Service (NHS) was established in 2023, and the eligible list of medicines was approved in 2024.
