Introduction
Vancomycin, an antibiotic, can cause nephrotoxicity. The Infectious Diseases Society of America recommends targeting an area under the curve/minimum inhibitory concentration (AUC/MIC) ratio of 400 to 600 mg*h/L to maximize clinical efficacy and minimize the risk of nephrotoxicity.
