Introduction
Venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, is a recognised complication following orthopaedic surgery, particularly total knee replacement (TKR) and total hip replacement (THR). Current clinical guidelines recommend pharmacological thromboprophylaxis during hospitalisation and often beyond..
