Background information: People living with mental illness have a high prevalence of metabolic complications (for example, metabolic syndrome), with rates as high as 32.5%. Metabolic syndrome (MetSyn) predisposes the individual to several complications, including cardiovascular events, and higher risk of extended hospital stays and premature death. ..
