Atlas dashboards (GPO visualisation platform)

Global pharmaceutical data and intelligence with one click

The FIP GPO Atlas is a platform for showcasing our members’ needs and priorities (supported by the data from the FIP GPO), allowing FIP to identify opportunities for developing pharmacy with, for, and through our member organisations.

FIP Development Goal 10: Equity & Equality

A global overview of gender distribution in the pharmacy workforce

Over the past decade, an analysis of gender distribution in the pharmacy workforce has been conducted across different time points: 2009, 2012, 2016, 2020, and the latest data in 2022. Our interactive dashboard illustrates the proportion of gender representation in the workforce, mapped against regional variation and country-level economic indicators. This provides information on the landscape of gender distribution and how it has evolved over time.

In alignment with FIP Development Goal 10, ensuring the representation of genders within the pharmacy workforce is crucial to promote equality and equity in the healthcare system, which contributes to a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Such representation fosters a deeper understanding of the diverse healthcare needs of the population.

FIP Development Goal 12: Pharmacy Intelligence

An overview of pharmacists’ density per 10,000 population across countries

The global pharmacist capacity data, measured by density, was collected by FIP at multiple time points, including 2006, 2009, 2012, 2016, 2020, and the latest data in 2022. Our interactive dashboard illustrates the changes in workforce density per 10,000 population across different countries throughout the years, which is mapped against regional variation and country-level economic indicators.

The workforce element of FIP Development Goal 12 underscores the significance of FIP’s ongoing monitoring efforts of global workforce trends. This evidence serves as a valuable resource to establish a national strategy for workforce planning. It also enables countries to perform workforce assessment, with a specific focus on its impact on patient care.

FIP Development Goal 15: People-centred care

Point-of-care testing (PCOT) services available in community pharmacies

Point-of-care testing (PCOT) services performed in pharmacies contribute to timely patient care and improve patient awareness of the importance of early detection and management of disease, as well as appropriate referral. Community pharmacies, due to their widespread and easy accessibility, are considered the ideal places for the provision of primary healthcare services, including PCOT. Pharmacists, as highly competent and accessible healthcare providers, are well-positioned to make significant contributions to preventive care.

PCOT and screening services provided by pharmacists and community pharmacies are interconnected with broader healthcare systems and aligned with FIP Development Goal 15: People-centred care. These services may reduce visits and appointments at general practitioners or emergency departments, thereby improving overall healthcare efficiency.

Several point-of-care tests available in pharmacies include blood sugar and cholesterol level monitoring, blood pressure management, weight, height, body mass index determination, pregnancy tests, and HIV tests. In this dashboard, we provide an interactive overview showcasing the availability of these tests across countries from different regions and income groups. Additionally, you can narrow down your search to specific countries to explore the range of PCOT services available.
