    Background: Randomized controlled trials (RCT) of fish oil (FO) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have been problematic in that (a) subjects had longstanding disease, and (b) the need to change dosing of the disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs (DMARDs) was usually a withdrawal criterion.
