  • Abstract:

    Background
Entry of new drugs to a hospital formulary has been assessed at a local level in Japan. We initiated a pharmacy-led new medicine use evaluation (MUE) programme for selected high risk/cost drugs to ensure that these medicines were appropriately used.
    Aims
A case study of teriparatide, a new high cost agent to treat osteoporosis, is reported.
