    Background

As single unit dose (SDU) containers have a volume of 0.5mL of preservative free (PF) ophthalmic solution in many eye drop preparations, patients are tempted to re-use these although only a single use is the licensed indication. Multidose units provide 10mL of PF preparation generally and are usable for upto one week when refrigerated.
