  Recognizing that pharmacy technicians have varying backgrounds of education and training, there is a need to describe essential knowledge, skills, abilities, and attitudes at the point of entry into the profession.

  A workgroup consisted of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians was formed to scope the exercise and develop the competency standards.
