The in vivo disposition (pharmacokinetics, PK) and action (pharmacodynamics, PD) of biological therapeutics tend to be more complex relative to small synthetic compounds, resulting from a combination of pharmacological and physiological factors. Nonlinear dose-dependent effects on drug absorption, disposition, and response are commonplace.
