The Essential Medicines concept was included in the 1978 Declaration of Alma Ata, and has long been a key element of the approach advocated by the World Health Organization. However, nearly 30 years passed before specific attention was given to the needs of children. Following the May 2007 World Health Assembly Resolution (WHA60.20) entitled..
