Background: P-glycoprotein (P-gp) is a significant efflux protein present in the body, from the gastrointestinal tract to the blood-brain-barrier. Previous studies in our laboratory suggest that induction of P-gp in the gut could be beneficial by limiting bacterial adhesion to the gut. To that end, P-gp induction has been examined in the human..
