Background Baicalein, a flavone present in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, has been demonstrated to possess a variety of biological activities, including treatment of inflammation, cardiovascular disease and microbial infections. Though it has so many pharmacological effects, its species diversity remains unclear.
