Background:
One of the several ways maternal and childhood mortality is being tackled in malaria endemic regions is by prophylactic use of sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine combination during pregnancy. Pregnant women are expected to take at least two doses of IPT from time of quickening to the time of delivery with one month space interval.
