Vancomycin is a glycopeptide antibiotic used in infections caused by Gram positive bacteria. Due to the nephrotoxic (and possible ototoxic) adverse effects, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of vancomycin serum concentrations is necessary during therapy.
