    There is large inter-individual variability in outcome (benefits/risks) of pharmaceutical interventions. For example, only 50% of patients respond to their prescribed medicines, while serious and fatal adverse drug reactions rank as the fourth leading cause of death, ahead of diabetes and pneumonia. Pharmacogenomics is the study of genomic basis
