Choosing preservatives for carbohydrate-containing oral gel preservation

Purpose: Glucose and sucrose-containing (15% each) oral gels were formulated, intended for managing the phase 1 of hypoglycaemia in patients suffering from type II diabetes mellitus. Cellulose derivatives were used as geling agents: 3.5% sodium carboxymethylcellulose (NaCMC), 2.5% hydroxypropylmethylcellulose (HPMC) and 2.25% hydroxyethylcellulose ..
