BACKGROUND: Portuguese pharmacies have provided a wide range of services. The complexity and time devoted to such services has increased over time. OBJECTIVES: To estimate the volume, cost and economic value of free pharmacy services in 2008. METHODS: Cross-sectional evaluation: a pharmacy survey to estimate the volume of free services provided..
