    Introduction There are only three Origanum taxa found in Albania. These are Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum (Link) Ietswaart (syn. Origanum heracleoticum L.), known as white oregano, Origanum vulgare L. (red oregano) and the cultivated marjoram (Origanum majorana L.). White oregano is widespread in southern Albania.
