Background
Autoimmune diseases (AID) are chronic disorders of unknown etiology, often leading to disability and premature mortality. In search for new therapeutic options, selective phosphodiesterase (PDE) inhibitors have been tested using animal models of these diseases, however, up to date, none of them has been registered for this indication.
