BackgroundOpioid addiction affects millions of people worldwide and it has become a public health problem of epidemic proportions threatening the fabric of societies. In the USA, which has the most complete statistics, in 2017 there were 60.977 overdose deaths due to prescription opioids, heroin and fentanyl. Possible causes of this epidemic..
