  • Abstract:

    Background

    Needle Exchange Programs (NEPs) aim to reduce the risk of transmission of HIV and HCV infections by changing habits and behavior among People Who Inject Drugs (PWID). In Portugal, the NEP was launched in 1993 in community pharmacies (CP) and Kits are currently exchanged by CP, primary healthcare facilities, and non-profit organizations.
