Tetrahydrobiopterin (5,6,7,8-tetrahydropterin, BH4) is an endogenous cofactor in human body and has many important functions. It has been reported that the absorption mechanisms of BH4 in intestine and liver are different, i.e. by direct uptake in intestine and indirect mechanism in the liver. The intestinal mucosa might be able to take up BH4.. The access to the whole abstract and if available the presentation file is available to FIP members and to congress participants of that specific congress.
