    Prescription databases are a valuable source of information on use of prescription medicines. All the Nordic countries have prescription registers, used for research purposes and to some extent as guidance in decision making. Iceland‘s Prescription Registry has the added purpose of surveillance of physician prescribing and of patient consumption..
