  • Abstract:

    Azathioprine(AZA)is an imidazolyl derivative of 6-mercaptopurine that impairs DNA and RNA synthesis, it is shown to decrease the relapse rate in multiple sclerosis. AZA induced bone marrow toxicity may be dose related or well known thiopurine methyltransferase (TPMT) deficiency resulting in intracellular accumulation of cytotoxic thioguanine
