Each year, more than 3 billion people worldwide are at risk of being infected with malaria, with an estimated 200 million new cases resulting in 627,000 deaths. More than 90% of these deaths occur in sub-Saharan Africa, with 70% being children under the age of 5. Antimalarial chemotherapy remains a mainstay of malaria control, and widespread..
