- Abstract:
Turkey with a vibrant, young population of more than 70 million, covers an area of ~780.000 square kilometres at the crossroads between Europe and Asia. Almost 34 % of the population lives in rural areas. High population growth (1.33%) leads to high migration rates to the largest cities in the country, which causes major environmental changes.
