    Purpose: Methotrexate (MTX) is widely used for the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and other malignant diseases. MTX is intracellularly metabolized to its more active forms, methotrexate polyglutamates, which are subsequently cleaved in lysosomes by gamma-glutamyl hydrolase (GGH).
