In 2012, in a first for the developed world, New Zealand reclassified (or switched) trimethoprim to allow specially trained pharmacists to supply the medicine without a prescription to women with cystitis fitting specific criteria.
Structured interviews were conducted with New Zealand pharmacists trained to supply trimethoprim. Audio recorded.. The access to the whole abstract and the presentation file is available to FIP members and to congress participants of that specific congress.
