Egypt occupies a key position between the Asiatic and African countries, and its floristic composition shows affinities in all directions. The Mediterranean part forms a natural continuation of the Algerian-Tunisian flora; the southern part (Gebel Elba) includes most of the plants of the Red Sea Hills of Northern Sudan, while the Sinai Peninsula
