    Background

    Botulinum toxin, produced by Clostridium botulinum, weakens or paralyzes skeletal through the inhibition of neurotransmission between peripheral nerve endings and muscle fibers. Botulinum toxins are represented by at least 7 serotypes (A, B, C, D, E, F, and G).
