An Australian Medical Assistance team (AUSMAT) is a fully self-sufficient field hospital, rapidly deployed to augment or replace local health responses following a sudden onset disaster within Australia or overseas. Deployment teams are drawn from trained volunteers across Australia and include doctors, nurses, paramedics and fire-fighters
