Dr. Peter H. Vlasses is the Executive Director of the ACPE, the U.S. agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmacy education and the evaluation and certification of professional degree programs internationally. ACPE is an FIP Observer Organization. Dr. Vlasses received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science (PCPS) and served a residency in hospital pharmacy at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. His professional experience includes service as a clinical faculty member at The Ohio State University College of Pharmacy and PCPS. He served as Head of the Clini­cal Research Unit and Research Associate Professor of Medicine and Pharmacology, Jefferson Medical College, in Philadelphia, and then as Associate Director, Clinical Practice Advancement Center, and Director, Clinical Research & Investigator Services, University HealthSystem Consortium, Oak Brook, IL. In each of his positions, Dr. Vlasses was involved in innovative education, practice and research initiatives. Dr. Vlasses is a Founding Member, Fellow and Past-President of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and also holds membership in APhA and ASHP. He was a a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist from 1994 to 2016. He was elected to the Board of Directors of the Association of Specialized and Professional Accreditors (ASPA) and served as Chair and Treasurer. He serves on the National Advisory Council for the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Research. His awards include the Russell R. Miller Award from ACCP in recognition of his sustained and outstanding contributions to the biomedical literature, the ACCP Service Award, the PCPS Alumnus of the Year Award, the ASPA Cynthia Davenport Award to recognize exceptional effort on behalf of specialized and professional accreditors, and an Honorary Doctor of Science degree from Mercer University, Atlanta, GA.
