Giovanni M. Pauletti is Associate Professor of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics at the James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy, University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH (USA). Since 2015, he serves as the FIP Scientific Secretary providing leadership and strategic direction for this global federation on scientific aspects relevant to pharmaceutical sciences, practice, and education. Dr. Pauletti received his M.S. in Pharmacy and Ph.D. in Biopharmaceutics from the School of Pharmacy at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Switzerland. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, KS (USA), Dr. Pauletti began his academic career at the Texas Tech University, School of Pharmacy, Amarillo, TX (USA) and moved to the University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH (USA) in 1998. He currently directs an interdisciplinary research program that centers on the design and evaluation of novel drug delivery systems to improve therapeutic applications of small molecules and biotechnology-based drugs. Dr. Pauletti is an inventor on 7 U.S. patents and successfully enabled, in collaboration with various academic and commercial partners, preclinical and early clinical development of those proprietary drug delivery technologies.
