Biographies Speakers


Susan James has worked with the Ontario College of Pharmacists since 2006. In her current role as Director, Quality she is responsible for the strategic direction and alignment of the registrant competence, hospital and community pharmacy practice, and related adjudication processes. Susan was also instrumental in the College’s initiative to implement the regulation of pharmacy technicians. Susan continues to promote the integration of pharmacy technicians within College programs and strategic initiatives that impact pharmacy practice. She is involved in local, national and international activities, currently serving as the Pharmacy Support Workforce domain lead within the International Pharmaceutical Federation Education Development Team (FIPEd). She was also the co-chair of the Pharmacy Support Workforce Working Group, commissioned by the FIP Board of Pharmaceutical Practice to prepare a technical report on the status of pharmacy technicians globally, which was published by FIP in February 2017. Susan holds a Masters degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Susan has worked in professional regulation for almost 20 years having also worked in practice as a healthcare clinician, administrator and lecturer.
