  • Abstract:

Background Genetic diseases of the skeletal muscle, such as muscular dystrophy, can lead to the progressive weakening and degeneration of the muscle. Gene therapy has been trialled as a treatment option; however, due to the poor transfection efficiency of plasmid DNA in the muscle, the effectiveness of this therapy is still relatively low.
