  Background:
  In Malta, the British National Formulary (BNF) is used by Maltese healthcare professionals as the major medicinal reference source. The aim of this study was to update and evaluate the Maltese Medicines Handbook (MMH), a formulary designed to include medicines available in Malta which are not cited in the BNF.
